Following the 14 day ultimatum given to the federal government by the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD), which was ignored, the president of the union Aliyu Sokomba and the general secretary Biliqis Muhammad decided to call on all doctors nationwide, to embark on an indefinite strike starting from Monday, 15th June 2020, the strike action also entails the withdrawal the services of health care officers working at COVID-19 isolation and treatment centers. They also called upon the federal government to look for alternative measures to take care of infected patients, as they are not going back on their word, they also restated their demands as:
1. Provision of grossly inadequate protective equipment for the health care workers
2. Immediate reversal of the illegal disengagement of all 26 resident doctors in Jos University Teaching hospital and payment of salaries owed them.
3. Implementation of the Medical Residency Training Act in all federal and state hospitals and ensuring pay parity among doctors of equal cadre.
