PEPTIC ULCER

Ulcers occur when stomach acid damages the lining of the digestive tract. Common causes include the bacteria H. Pylori and anti-inflammatory pain relievers including aspirin

 

The most common causes of peptic ulcers are infection with the bacterium Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) and long-term use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin IB, others) and naproxen sodium (Aleve). Stress and spicy foods do not cause peptic ulcers

 

How to prevent peptic ulcers
  1. not drinking more than two alcoholic beverages a day.
  2. not mixing alcohol with medication.
  3. washing your hands frequently to avoid infections.
  4. limiting your use of ibuprofen, aspirin, and naproxen (Aleve)
Treatment consists of antacids
Treatment usually includes medication to decrease stomach acid production. If it is caused by bacteria, antibiotics may be required.

Antibiotics, Proton-pump inhibitor, Penicillin, Antidiarrhoeal and Antacid
