David Adeleke, a popular pop star and one of Africa’s biggest artists, also known as Davido, tied the knot with his long-time partner, Chioma Rowland, on June 25, 2024. This highly anticipated event practically shook the entire city of Lagos.
Prior to the event, it was announced that the wedding ceremony would commence at the popular Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island. Surprisingly, it was changed to Harbor Point. Despite the change in venue and the relentless downpour, fans and guests flocked to witness the long-awaited union.
The wedding ceremony resembled a concert, not surprising given it was an A-list artist’s wedding ceremony. The hashtag “CHIVIDO” took over social media and became a national talking point.
Great and superstar musicians graced the event to entertain the guests and treat the couple to their first dance.
Legendary Juju singer, King Sunny Ade, with his live band, was in full glory as they thrilled the audience with a variety of the singer’s ageless songs. During his performance, King Sunny Ade called Chioma by her newly acquired surname, “Adeleke.”
Award-winning singer Chike was at the event to entertain the couple with his music, performing “Running to You” and some of his other love songs.
The excitement reached a peak when rapper, singer, and YBNL boss, Olamide, made a surprise appearance. Davido, brimming with enthusiasm, joyfully leaped and hugged Olamide. Davido revealed that Olamide had informed him he might be able to show up at the event. A big surprise indeed.
Olamide performed his popular hits “Melo Melo” and “Lagos Boys” while Davido and Chioma sang and danced along. He was joined by Davido to also perform their hit collaboration “Money” in a heartwarming moment.
Rapper and Davido’s friend Zlatan graced the occasion and performed his hit song “Bolanle.”
Fast-rising sensation Nasboi also entertained the couple and the guests with his hit song “Umbrella” and his latest single “Small Money.”
International superstar Fireboy delivered a surprise performance of his recent hit “Everyday.”
Hitmaker Mayorkun treated the guests to a performance of his collaboration with Davido, “The Best.”
