On Thursday, July 4, the Kano State Government has ordered that funds should be released to contractors immediately for them to complete the five kilometer road project that has been abandoned across the 44 local government areas within the state.
This was announced by the Kano State Governor, Governor Abba Yusuf, after a meeting at the Government House, with the contractors handling the projects.
He directed that all settlement of outstanding remuneration be paid and that the contractors should get back to work within a week.
Rabiu Kwankwaso, one time Governor of Kano State, had started the Five kilometers road project but later abandoned it due to inscrutable reasons.
The non completed roads had attracted alot of condemnation for the immediate past Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
The Governor, ordered for the release of 30% advance payment to the contractors and also to re-evaluate cost due to the increase in price of construction materials, as well as paying the contractors monthly to avoid delay in the project.
